How to Choose a Speaker Microphone
When field teams use two way radio for daily work, a well-matched speaker microphone greatly improves work efficiency. Buyers will meet three main categories on market: standard wired speaker mic, Bluetooth wireless speaker mic and POC compatible speaker mic. Many people mix up their functions. This buying guide clarifies how each one works and helps you pick the right accessory for your team.
This is the most widely-used, cost-effective option. It connects directly to two way radio audio port via cable. Audio and PTT signals transfer through physical wire. No extra charging needed, connection stays stable with zero signal drop. It fits warehouse, security and construction crews who keep their radio close at hand.
Downside: the cable limits movement. Workers can not move far away from the radio unit. Cables may catch on obstacles or wear out after long time heavy duty use.

Bluetooth speaker mic removes cable restrictions. It pairs wirelessly with your compatible two way radio. Staff can clip the mic to uniform shoulder or vest, and keep the radio stored in pocket or bag. Free movement works perfectly for long patrol, site inspection tasks. Many models offer optional IP67 dust and water protection, plus noise reduction for noisy work sites. Some versions can even work as standalone bluetooth speaker for music playback.
Important note: Bluetooth speaker mic needs periodic charging. Audio performance will degrade if working distance goes beyond bluetooth range.

This is a special accessory built only to match POC (Push-to-Talk over Cellular) two way radio devices.
Critical point to understand: This speaker mic is just an audio peripheral. It does NOT have built-in cellular or 4G capability. Wide-area cross-site communication and cellular network performance all depend entirely on your POC radio host itself.
Most POC radios deliver weak audio output from their accessory port. Our POC compatible speaker mic solves this pain point with built-in amplifier and its own internal battery. It delivers louder, clearer sound in high-noise working environments, without draining your POC radio battery. Press PTT on the shoulder mic, the signal passes to your POC radio and the radio handles all network-based voice transmission.
Best for teams already running POC network radios for fleet, multi-site property and large-scale security assignments. It will not turn a regular analog radio into a POC device.

1. Your working environment If crews work outdoors under rain, splash and heavy dust, select models with high IP rating such as optional IP67. Indoor dry-site teams can go with standard IP54 to control total cost.
2. Mobility requirement If staff walk around constantly and hate tangled cables, go for bluetooth speaker mic. For fixed-post or short-range onsite work, low-cost wired speaker mic is sufficient.
3. Radio device type you own
· Analog / digital conventional two way radio: choose standard wired or bluetooth speaker mic with matching plug.
· Existing POC network radio: select dedicated POC-compatible speaker mic. Remember the mic itself cannot add POC function to non-POC radios.
1. Audio quality for noisy locations Construction yards, ports and busy warehouses create heavy background noise. Look for features including noise reduction, built-in amplifier and high sound output, so operators can hear and be heard clearly.
2. Hardware compatibility (plug type) Different radio brands use different pin layouts. TK plug, Icom plug, Motorola and Hytera plugs are generally not interchangeable. Always double-check your radio model before ordering. Custom plug service is available for many speaker mic series.
There is no one-size-fits-all best speaker microphone.
· Pick standard wired for stable performance and lower budget.
· Pick bluetooth when you need cable-free mobility.
· Pick POC compatible speaker mic only if your existing devices are POC network radios, to get boosted loud audio output.
